Webcam modeling is a job carried out mostly by young women, with a significant impact on culture and society. It has been driven by greater access to digital technologies, generating positive economic changes although it raises moral controversies.
Cultural impacts include the normalization of sexuality, the diversification of erotic content that is more inclusive than traditional pornography, and a transformation in entertainment consumption through real-time interaction.
Socially, it generates empowerment and financial autonomy for participants, especially independent models. However, they face stigmatization, discrimination, harassment and difficulties accessing financial services, as well as privacy risks and impacts on personal relationships.
